Really settling all down for winter now, we will have had the first frosts and the trees begin their dormancy period.
Overnight temps will really drop and day temps on cloudy days will be cold.
I like to keep dead leaves off the trees, pots and staging as it is a haven for pests and disease.
Some trees while hardy do not like their roots freezing. These should be protected and I use two main methods:
1 Wrap pot in bubble wrap, this gives enough insulation to prevent freezing in all but the coldest periods. Ensure drainage is not impeded or the roots could rot if left waterlogged.
